Pindaya to somewhere not on the map! 68 km
We headed off with our French friends to the base of a mountain pass. We had read about a short cut 10 km out of town that was good for bikes. We found the tea shop and the turn off which took about 20 km off the day. Such an amazing trip. The road was just being sealed, it was still red dirt and dust in a lot of places. A lot of women work on the roads, covered from head to toe, they always have a smile. Very labour intensive.
We stopped at another temple which had a nice view over the area. Our French friends were faster than us, they didn't stop at all the sights but we caught up and had a cold drink with them later in the day. There were two places to stay, the hard twin bed, cold tap wash outside at the guesthouse for $12 or the nicer more motel style with comfort and breakfast for $30. We went for the hot shower and food option, the French couple for the cheap price! As soon as we stopped to unload the bikes four people popped out from somewhere to help unload, they take service seriously. A flask of tea delivered and a huge breakfast the next morning. Gotta love small village hospitality.
